About the Pastor

Called of God and led by the Holy Spirit, Pastor J. Nathaniel Crout organized the New Covenant Missionary Baptist Church on July 10, 1977.

Under the leadership of Pastor Crout, New Covenant has acquired a total of 33 acres, completing Phases I & II of the building project as of 1998, with future plans of an activity center and senior housing.  Presently, there are eighteen in-house ministries developed to serve the needs of the church, community and even on foreign mission fields.  Outreach ministries have also been established such as the Helping Hands Charity, Inc., and P.E.A.C.E. (Partnership in Economic Alliance for Community Empowerment), a community development corporation – both are 501c3 status.

Pastor Crout has been active in the community for many years, serving on various boards such as the Washtenaw Housing Commission; performing volunteer work for Habitat for Humanity and the Parkridge Community Center of Ypsilanti.  He was one of the founding members of the Minister’s Alliance.  He presently serves as moderator of the Huron Valley Missionary Baptist District and is a member of the Wolverine State Convention.  He continues to be a lecturer, teacher and well-sought after speaker.

He has a genuine concern and passion for the well-being of young people. He works tirelessly with youth and young adult ministries, empowering them for successful living – in their pursuit of personal discipleship, academic achievement, career choices and marriage and family – that they might become productive citizens, making a difference for the cause of Christ.
